I cannot tell you how happy this makes me! This is the best thing I could ever hear from a reader. I’m so sorry you’ve had to struggle with your addiction, but I am so glad you’ve finally found relief and are on the road to recovery. I wish you the very best, and I hope you continue to find the healing you need. Getting sober is not easy–you have done the hardest part by admitting you have a problem. i am 21 years old and for 4 years i have been facing an ongoing war with my addiction to heroin, this book actually gave me the drive and determanation to check into rehab, we dont have any around here so i never had the motivation plus i was scared but this book gave me the courage and the energy to do something about my addiction. ive read so many self help books and books to help the “addicts brain” but none of them helped me like this. i am now clean because of you book. i have been doing so well, so clean reallly helped me get clean, i wish i could hug you…thank you so much amy.

Thanks so much! I think it’s a matter of trying to become your characters as much as possible and experiencing things along with them, and to use your own experiences and feelings to try to relate. I think writing compelling, deep characters is a lot like method acting.

I would just let you know that you are an inspiring author to me and i hope i can open the eyes of others just as you have! You have a deep soul to write these incredible books and through all the tears and smiles i know how to make it through and you hit the points head on. (personal experiences with these struggles of the characters in your books.)As an aspiring writer i’d like to know how do you put yourself in those situations? Because these are similar situations like I write about.

Hi Amy! I read your book “Beautiful” and i loved every word of it! So much so that I’m reading it again and telling all my friends that they have to read it also! But i really think that you should make this book into a movie! Its that amazing and many more people will be touched by the story line you have written out. i know you said that you didn’t want anything to do with film making after you studied it but I believe that your story just has to get out there more and touch many more lives the same way its touched the many who have read your book!

I wanted to read a part of it llike I did with clean but its only available to teachers and people like that kind of dissapointing but I guess ill have to wait … I don’t like waiting grr

Amy,
This book was SOOOOO very inspiring. It made me more aware of all the crazy things that could happen to a teen who wanted to be “cool”. I read this book on paperback as soon as it came out with one of my friends. We had a contest to see who could finish first and I won. It only took me a day and a half to finish, I COULDN’T PUT IT DOWN!!!! I spent my birthday money this past summer on Clean, and thought it was a GREAT book. In my opinion, you should just keep writing. I’m really looking forward to Crazy, and I’ll defintally buy it this upcoming summer. And I agree that Beautiful should be made into a book, I would soooooo pay to see that, over and over and over…
Keep writing, I’m a HUGE fan!
